I'm proud to serve as Alderman for Ward 14, representing residents in one of the vibrant wards in Calgary - with panoramic views of the Rockies, Fish Creek Park, lakes and Calgary's downtown skyline for a backdrop. Working together I'm confident that we can make Ward 14 an even better place in which to work and play. I am excited about going back to the basics committed to continuing to work on important issues that impact us all.

Lights up the Night Nov. 29, 2011 Alderman Peter Demong,  Lights Up The Night at the historic water tower at St. Mary’s University College Nov 29th! The water tower is a significant south Calgary landmark and was decorated in celebration  with 8000 bright blue Christmas lights, making the tower visible for miles around.

Biography

Term in office: 2010-2013

Peter Demong was first elected to serve as Alderman for Ward 14 in October 2010. Peter moved to Calgary in 1978 and has owned and operated his own business in Ward 14 for the past 15 years.

Peter's background includes expertise in logistics and transportation. He was logistics manager of Nose Creek Forest Products and worked there for more than 12 years. He brings a successful business background to Calgary City Council, one built on the ability to manage budgets and understand the needs of small business.

During the 2010 civic election, more than 3,000 constituents participated in Peter's survey to articulate their most pressing concerns as Calgary moves forward. Peter is committed to less government, lower taxes and political accountability.

Peter brings his grassroots community understanding to Council where he will serve on the:

  • Standing Policy Utilities and Corporate Services
  • Legacy Parks
  • Intergovernmental Affairs Committee
  • Gas, Power & Telecommunications Committee
  • Inter-Municipal Committee Foothills

In Calgary, Peter graduated from Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School, and continued further study for his Canadian Association Production Inventory Control certification through night school at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and DeVry Institute of Technology in Calgary.

Married to Naomi, the couple has two daughters, Ariel and Ashley. Peter has operated a locally owned florist since 1996. He's also been an active advocate of small business owners and individual taxpayers through his work with various organizations.

Peter's favourite pastimes include politics and nature walks as well as golfing, canoeing and football.
