In 1994, The City of Calgary established the Calgary Awards to celebrate and recognize outstanding achievements and contributions made by Calgarians. Each year, individuals, corporations, community groups, schools, and organizations are nominated in five major award categories, for a total of 17 awards.
The City of Calgary encourages all Calgarians to look to their neighbours, colleagues, community leaders, and local organizations and businesses for those who could qualify as recipients of the Calgary Awards.
The 2011 Calgary Awards
Preparations are now underway for the 2011 Calgary Awards program. Calgarians are invited to recognize fellow citizens for their contribution to making Calgary a dynamic, progressive and compassionate city.
- The 2011 Calgary Awards will launch in early December 2011.
- Brochures and information are being distributed.
- The Calgary Awards presentation is in the spring of 2012 at the Calgary Municipal Building and will be aired live on Shaw TV.
