Hallway in Historic City Hall

When entering historic City Hall through the original oak doors, visitors arrive in this main hallway located on the second floor.

The first level houses City Clerk's, Records and Archives. The Mayor's office is on the second level and the Aldermanic offices are situated on the third and fourth levels.

Today, the architecture incorporates a variety of styles emphasizing texture, grandeur and formality. Over the years, this building has been recognized several times as an important historic site. In 1978, it was designated as a Provincial Historic Resource. In 1984, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada made it a National Historic Site. And, in 1991, it became the city's first Municipal Heritage Resource.
