As of May 4, 2011, The City of Calgary is recording its Council and Standing Policy Committee (SPC) meetings in order to make proceedings more easily accessible to members of the public. This program expands the use of internet video beyond the live-streaming of legislative meetings that has been in place since 2009 (available at Council & Committee Meeting Webcasts).
The archived videos can be found at the City of Calgary's Agenda and Minutes page. Click on the word "Video" to the right of the meeting you want to view. You can also select a link to a particular item dealt with at that meeting, and the video will jump to the appropriate point in the meeting.
Videos will be made available to the public via the Internet for a period of three years from the date of the meeting. Meetings of Council and SPC meetings are being recorded.
The City of Calgary's legislative meetings are held in accordance with Section 197(1) of the Municipal Government Act. Meetings may be broadcast on Shaw TV and on the Internet. Recordings of meetings are made under the authority of Section 33(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act and are managed in accordance with The City of Calgary's
Recordings of Legislative Meetings Policy.
