Atrium Pillar

Atrium Pillar

On one of the four large concrete pillars located outside the entrance of the Council Chamber, is the Chief David Crowchild Memorial. It is a sculpture to honor the renowned Chief of the T'suu T'ina (Sarcee) nation of southern Alberta.

Each year, the Calgary Aboriginal Urban Affairs Committee, on behalf of The City, presents the Chief David Crowchild Memorial Award to honor individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to native issues and promoted greater understanding between native and non-native cultures. The names of former winners are engraved on the pillar.
