Archivists of The City of Calgary's Corporate Records, Archives believe that guidelines and procedures provide effective management tools to guide archivists in their work and those making use of the Archives' facility and its holdings.
The Archives ensures that framework and operational guidelines and procedures are
developed and maintained under the authority of City Clerk's Office.
Guidelines and procedures are living documents and require updating. Hence, users may be advised that parts of this manual may be under revision at the time of consultation.

Corporate Records, Archives Mandate
It is the purpose of Corporate Records, Archives to identify, acquire, preserve, and make accessible, archival material in the form of civic and private records, which document the structure, functions, activities, and history of The Corporation of The City of Calgary and its predecessors. The primary focus of the Archives' acquisition guideline is the preservation and accessibility of The City's archival records. Archival records are those selected for permanent retention through the archival appraisal process. The Archives seeks to increase public appreciation and awareness of The City's history through its outreach program.
