Q: When was Fort Calgary founded?

A: The first North West Mounted Police detachment arrived in September 1875 and built a fort at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers. The detachment's commander, Captain Brisebois, named the fort after himself. Fort Brisebois was renamed Fort Calgary in 1876 at the suggestion of Colonel James MacLeod.
