Strategic Marketing & Communications provides consulting strategy development, and the delivery of communications and marketing tactics. We ensure alignment with The City’s brand, strengthen The City’s reputation, and support revenue-generating services.
We develop targeted messages, delivered in the most effective and appropriate channels to reach the desired audiences. Our focus is on increasing understanding, assisting with achieving business outcomes and demonstrating the value of City services that make life in Calgary better.

What we heard


Strong reputations help organizations perform more effectively and build goodwill for the future. Our service is key to managing The City's reputation. We have a strong reputation and high levels of familiarity and trust; maintaining and improving these factors is a key focus. We are also looking to increase marketing focus to support revenue generation for services such as transit and recreation.

Council direction


 
By offering communications and marketing support for all City services, this service supports all Council Directives. We help The City speak in a collective voice to improve communication, a strong brand adherence, and a solid understanding of City services and the value they provide. We speak to The City's contribution to the quality of life in Calgary and our culture of innovation and continuous improvement. We also support Council direction through these policies: Transparency and Accountability, Public Notice and Legal Advertising, Plain Language, Notice of Motion on Multilingual Communications and Engagement, and compliance with Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation.
