    Working in the trades can be physically demanding and requires work to be carried out regardless of inclement weather.

The City of Calgary hires many different trades and each position may require different skills.  The following are just some examples of the skills we are looking for when going through the application forms received:
 
  • valid class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent)
  • valid class 3 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent)
  • valid air brakes endorsement
  • valid first aid certificate (or higher)
  • experience reading plans and/or taking precise measurements
  • experience working around major plant infrastructure
  • familiarity with SCADA systems

Applicants may be required to complete a security clearance, provide proof of qualifications, certifications and/or journeyman tickets and may be tested on their related knowledge and skills.
