Hackathon 2018: Pedestrian Comfort

Calling all hackers, designers, big thinkers! The City of Calgary wants YOU to participate in this year’s Hackathon!

Hackathon 2018 is going to see us shaking things up a bit. For the very first time, The City of Calgary will be hosting a themed Hackathon. We’re looking for participants to channel their creative energy into using open data to develop a ‘something’ (maybe it’s an app, maybe it’s a map) that will help increase pedestrian comfort in our city.

Supporting The City’s pedestrian strategy, this Hackathon will host Calgary’s brightest minds for two days of creating (and fun!).

You can find more details about the pedestrian comfort theme in our FAQs, but in a nutshell, we’re looking for participants to create something that falls into one of the three categories of pedestrian comfort: play, safety and health.

This year’s event will also see a different prizing structure and a new approach to judging. There won’t be any big cash prizes this time around, and we’ve decided to put the power to the people and leave the judging of the finals to you, the participants. You’ll judge your peers and award bragging rights (and fancy trophies) to the top teams. We heard you when you said a hackathon is really about the getting together to create something cool, so that’s what we hope you’ll do.

Now that we’ve got you interested – here are the event details and registration information:
