myID FAQs

myID provides online access to a wide range of City of Calgary services and resources under a single log-in. If you're having trouble using myID, try consulting one of the following FAQ pages.

What is a myID account?

myID is City-specific online account that enables citizens and business users to securely access multiple online City services with a single user ID and password.

To register for myID you'll need to provide your email address, your full name, a security question and, for business users, your Business License or ID number. Due to security requirements, you may be prompted to provide additional information or complete other processes before you can access that service, but this additional step will usually be a onetime process.

There are three different myID account types: Business administrator, business user and citizen.

How much does it cost?

myID is free to both businesses and citizens.

What services are available through myID?

Currently, property and business assessment services are available through the myID account. We are working towards adding new services in 2012. In the meantime, please continue using your existing user names and passwords for other City services.

Can one type of account be converted into another type?

Business related accounts (Business Administrator and Business User) can be converted from one type to another. Citizen accounts can not be converted to business accounts.

Why do I need to provide my email address?

When your account is created, we will email you a temporary password. If you forget your User ID, we can email it to the registered email address. You need to enter the email address twice to make sure it is spelled correctly.

Please note: myID will only send email to users that are required for registration, activation or password resets.

Why do I have to select security question(s)?

You must select at least one to three security questions. If you forget your password you can reset it online if you remember the answer(s) to your security question(s). This allows you to easily and securely access your account when you've forgotten your password.

What are the jumbled characters in the 'Validate' section?

As a measure of added security, and to prevent automated attacks, many sites use this distorted text challenge that only humans can read and computer programs cannot. If the text is too hard for you to read, please click 'Generate New Image' link to get another image.

The Continue button is disabled. Why?

The 'Continue' button gets enabled when you agree to the 'Terms of Use' by clicking the check box provided.
