The City of Calgary's current affordable housing​ development projects include:

Wildwood

  • Development to be a three-storey, multi-family residential building comprised of up to 32 units
  • Constructed to Built Green Silver with sustainable features that reduce energy consumption and operational costs over the life of the building

The Bridges - Phase 2

  • 160 units in McPherson Place, to be developed by New Urban Consulting.​
  • 102 of the 160 units will be sold through a shared equity program, to be administered by Bridge Attainable Housing Society (BAHS)
  • The shared equity program provides apartments at approximately 30% less than average market prices
  • 58 units will be purchased by The City of Calgary, to be managed by Calgary Housing Company, as non-market rental units
  • Located in Bridgeland
  • Includes community garden, underground parking, main floor commercial, and LEED Silver target
  • Projected completion: Fall 2012

Project profile
  • Lumino South is part of Lumino, a comprehensive mixed-use development that will include a variety of affordable housing, retail, commercial and recreation spaces.
  • Lumino South provides 88 affordable housing rental units.
  • Providing 88 affordable housing rental units, Lumino South is the only City-owned building in the Lumino development. 
  • The vision for the other Lumino buildings is to provide affordable and market housing. These buildings will be privately operated and include a west tower (114 affordable rental housing units), a north tower (121 market housing units), and town homes (five market housing units).
  • Lumino South includes a tot lot, amenity spaces and offices. An outdoor sitting area and plaza gardens will be shared amongst all Lumino buildings.
  • Lumino South is projected to be BUILT GREEN Silver certified.
  • Total budget: $24 million
  • Projected Completion: July 2013

Vida - completed May 2012

  • 45 unit four-storey apartment building
  • 15 two-bedroom and 30 one-bedroom units, including 10 accessible units
  • Located in Mt. Pleasant
  • Includes accessible building, sustainable building design, patios and balconies,
  • underground parking, laundry room
  • Total budget: $12 million
  • Projected Completion: May 2012
