Opportunity for development: Seven sites available for Affordable Housing providers


Access to land is a major barrier towards increasing the non market housing supply in Calgary. The City is committed to supporting non-profit affordable housing providers and is offering seven development sites for sale with the aim for providers to build more units and substantially increase the supply of non-market housing in Calgary.

Key features

  • The sites are at below market values.
  • The sites are in central locations in close proximity to transit and grocery stores.
  • The sites range in size and have varying land use designations.
  • Development permit applications and land use applications (if applicable) will be eligible for a prioritized planning stream through Calgary Approvals Coordination.

Please note

  • Community engagement is imperative and is the purchasers’ responsibility to engage with residents in the community.
  • Successful applicants are eligible to receive grant funding from The City’s Housing Incentive Program and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s Seed Funding program.
  • Non-profit organizations interested in acquiring the land will be evaluated on minimum criteria requirements (PDF)
  • All applications will be reviewed following the close of the application period on October 6, 2017 at 4 p.m., and the successful applicants will be selected.
