Awards won by The Bridges


The Bridges has been recognized locally, nationally and at the international level for its planning, urban design, and sustainability. The following lists the awards the project has received to date:


  • The Bow Valley Centre Concept Plan was awarded the National Urban Design Award 2005 in the category of "Approved or Adopted Urban Design Plan".
      This award was bestowed by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and was selected from winning entries of the local 2005 Mayor’s Urban Design Awards (MUDA).

  • The Award of Excellence in the category of Approved or Adopted Urban Design Plans (Bow Valley Centre Concept Plan) at the 2005 Mayor’s Urban Design Awards (MUDA).
      The award was presented in recognition of the excellence in urban design and achievement in enhancing the quality of life in Calgary.

  • Mention for The Bridges Masterplan - 2005 MIPIM (International Real Estate Forum) Architectural Review Future Project Awards
      One of three projects commended in the “masterplanned communities” category, The Bridges Masterplan was the only winning entry from North America and placed third behind Luchano Harbour City (near Shanghai Chin) and Stratford City Masterplan.

  • Finalist in the category of Green Design and Technological Innovation, 2005 Canadian Urban Institute Brownie Awards
      The Canadian Urban Institute's annual Brownie Awards program recognizes leadership, innovation and environmental sustainability in brownfield redevelopment across Canada.  The Bridges was recognized for its use of green design and principals.

  • Award of Excellence for the Bow Valley Centre Concept Plan. Alberta Association of Canadian Institute of Planners (AACIP) 2001 Planning Awards
      The Awards Committee determined that it demonstrated excellence in the areas of Urban Design, Community Planning and Public Participation.

  • Regional Citation for Bow Valley Centre Redevelopment Concept Plan
      2001 Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) Professional Awards Program
