The Animal Services Centre is the City of Calgary’s shelter for lost or stray cats and dogs that have been impounded under the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw 20M2006.

About the Animal Services Centre

We offer;
  • A shelter that can house 84 cats and 80 dogs.
  • A state-of-the-art veterinary clinic for our veterinarians and animal health technicians to care for cats and dogs available for adoption and impounded.
  • A cat communal room and outdoor dog runs where cats and dogs can exercise and  socialize. 

We offer cat and dog related services, including:

  • Pick up your lost cat or dog.
  • View cats and dogs available for adoption.
  • Adopt a cat or a dog.
  • Purchase a new or renew an existing licence for your cat or dog.
  • Transfer your cat or dog licence.
  • Get a new licence tag for your cat or dog.
  • Update the information on your cat or dog’s file.
  • Pick up a cat trap.
  • Receive information about the No Cost Spay/Neuter program for cats and dogs
  • Drop off your cat or dog for your scheduled surgery as part of the No Cost Spay/Neuter program.
The Centre provides emergency shelter for cats and dogs of displaced Calgarians in cases of emergencies, free of charge
