If your pet's licence is expired, you are in contravention of The Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw and the licence is not valid. The fastest, easiest way to renew an expired licence is by phone or in person. Call 3-1-1 (from within Calgary) or 403-268-CITY (2489) (from outside Calgary), or visit the Animal Services Centre at 2201 Portland St. S.E. to pay for the licence in person. Until payment is received by Animal & Bylaw Services, your pet's licence is not valid and you could be subject to a $250 fine.
Renewing an expired licence by phone
To renew an expired cat or dog licence by phone you may call 3-1-1 (from within Calgary), or 403-268 -CITY (2489) (from outside of Calgary). Payment is accepted using VISA, MasterCard or American Express credit cards. Note: If you wish to pay using a pre-paid credit card, please ask the 3-1-1 operator to transfer your call to Animal Licensing.
Renewing an expired licence in person
You may renew an expired cat or dog license in person at the Animal Services Centre (2201 Portland Street S.E.), Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Payment can be made with cheque, cash, debit or credit card.
Renewing an expired licence online
You can renew an expired animal licence online. Payment is accepted using Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit cards. Please note: Pre-paid credit cards are not accepted when using the online licensing service. If you wish to pay using a pre-paid credit card, you may do so in person or by phone. If you choose to make a payment online, please allow three working days for processing, and keep the confirmation number until you receive your Animal Licence Certificate.
