When you licence your cat or dog, you are issued a permanent tag. If the tag is lost, you will need to purchase a replacement tag.
Purchasing replacement tags without renewing a licence
To purchase a replacement licence tag without renewing a pet licence:
- Visit the Animal Services Centre at 2201 Portland Street S.E. [Monday to Friday
from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
(closed on statutory holidays)].
or
- Visit City Hall Cashiers, 3rd floor of 800 Macleod Trail S.E.(Monday to Friday
from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) where you can pay the $5 fee with cash or debit.
or
- Contact 311 during business hours (see above) to get transferred to
the Animal & Bylaw Services licensing department. Be ready to give them
a VISA, MasterCard or American Express card to pay the $5 fee.

After payment is processed a replacement tag will be sent to you in the mail.
Purchasing replacement tags when renewing your licence
If you are renewing your animal's licence online, you can also buy your replacement tag at the same time. Fill out the Online Animal Licence Renewal form as required. Then under Section 2: Animal Information, choose the "I require a new tag" option before providing your credit card information. After payment is processed a replacement tag will be sent to you in the mail.
