Community Cleanups are scheduled from 9 am - 2 pm but please check with your community association to confirm for your area.
Scheduled cleanups can be found here.
The organized Community Cleanup events save residents a trip to the landfill for items that do not fit in their waste and recycling carts or do not have cart service. This service is free of charge to all Calgarians.
We supply three packer trucks with crews (two for waste and one for organic materials) and funds for advertising and promotion, gloves, garbage bags, food and refreshments for the group of community volunteers.
Sleep Country has donated mattress bags for removal of mattresses with protection from harm like bed bugs. The mattress bags will be available at the community centre on the day of your Community Cleanup.
There are some items that ou packer trucks will not accept:
Most Community Associations provide additional recycling services for such things as electronics, metal, paper shredding, clothing and possible tire recycling and paint pickup. Some of the community associations organize a "free store" where you can drop off and/or select items from the donations - free of charge.
If you are interested in volunteering at your community's event, please contact your community association directly.
Leaves, branches, plants, grass clippings and other yard waste (excluding sod) will be accepted at Community Cleanup events for composting. Yard waste must be separate from other items.
All of the organic materials we collect at community cleanups will be taken to one of The City’s composting facilities.

Items for recycling can be taken to your local Community Recycling depot.
Please check our community recycling depot page for a location near you. Not sure what to do with an item? Visit calgary.ca/whatgoeswhere to find the right recycling and disposal options for your unwanted items.
