Bulletin board

The FCSS bulletin board is a place to find information about FCSS Calgary, social services and community resources. It's a great resource for FCSS funded agencies and programs.

This bulletin board has two sections:

1. FCSS Calgary News, which includes the latest FCSS Newsletter, information on FCSS Colloquia and links to other sites.
2. FCSS Agency News, which consists of:
   • General infomation for not-for-profit agencies
   • Agency job and opportunities
   • Workshops and events provided by FCSS agencies

FCSS program facts

• FCSS is unique in Alberta.
• 205 FCSS programs are delivered across Alberta in 309 municipalities and all eight Métis settlements. They reach about 99.9 per cent of Albertans.
• The total provincial FCSS budget in 2009/10 is $74.5 million.
• The 2010 FCSS Calgary budget is $29 million.
• The provincial FCSS funding allocation to Calgary is $21.9 million.
• The City of Calgary's contribution to our FCSS program is $7.4 million, which represents 25 per cent of the program costs.
• FCSS Calgary's funded agencies reported that volunteers contributed 1,038,416 hours of service in 2009. This translates into services worth more than $20 million.
• In 2009, FCSS Calgary funded 124 programs in 79 agencies.
• Research shows that an investment of $1 in preventive social services potentially saves $6 - $13 in future costs such as police, justice, addictions treatment and increases productivity in employment and contributions to society.

Colloquia – FCSS Calgary conducts three colloquia per year on topics of interest to our funded agencies.
