If you are a newcomer to Calgary, a researcher, student, business person or maybe just a Calgarian interested in comparing your community with others in the city, these Community Profiles are a good place to begin.
These profiles are compiled by City research staff in Calgary Neighbourhoods and are updated to reflect the most recent statistics from both the federal and civic censuses.
The Calgary Community Profiles are composed of two parts. Part A – Demographics, contains demographic information from the 2014 Calgary Civic Census and 2011 Census of Canada. Part B – Community Character, contains socio-cultural information from the 2011 National Household Survey (NHS).
A glossary of terms used in the Part B reports of the Calgary Community Profiles is found here.
2011 Census of Canada and National Household Survey for the whole of the City of Calgary is summarized in Calgary at a Glance.
The 2016 Calgary Civic Census is complete and provides population counts for communities, as well as age, sex, employment and transportation. The results can be accessed directly at the Calgary Civic Census website. The 2016 Calgary Civic Census will include additional questions on age, sex, employment, and transportation. The community profiles will be updated in 2016 after the release of the 2016 Federal Census results.
Previous community profiles specifically on seniors containing data from Canada's 2006 Census and The City of Calgary's 2011 Civic Census can be found at Community Profiles on Seniors.
