    ​Community education and prevention program promoting public safety. Each year, Safety Expo hosts grade 5 and 6 students at fun, interactive displays and workshops. The lessons meet Alberta Education Health and Wellness curriculum requirements. Ongoing community cost? No

    Residents work with Calgary Police to monitor vehicle speeds and encourage good driving by using radar or laser. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Safety education signs

    Community group requests signs from The City to encourage safe driving behaviours. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Pre-cast curbs

    ​Concrete ovals are physical barriers installed by The City which narrows the space for vehicles have at intersections. It reduces the crossing distance for pedestrians and creates temporary streetscaping space. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Traffic sign options

    ​Traffic sign options may be installed where appropriate. Options include larger sizes, speed limit, crosswalk ahead, and other signs that educate and encourage safe driving. The City approves and installs. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Crosswalk painting

    ​Completed annually. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Sidewalk repair / replacement

    ​From mid-March to mid-October, The City repairs streets, curbs, gutters, lanes and sidewalks. Repairs are reviewed annually and prioritized city-wide according to safety issues and damage severity. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Pathways and bikeways

    ​The City is responsible for planning, design, construction, maintenance, and programming of Calgary's multi-use pathway system. The pathways and bikeways map is available in three formats (mobile app, online, paper) and  current lifecycle and missing link work can be viewed in real time using the Calgary pathways and bikeways story map.
