    ​​With City permission, the community groups install enhanced plantings or public art in the middle of a roundabout. The City advises on sightlines and standards. Plantings or objects are supplied and maintained by community. Ongoing community cost? Yes

  • Street sign repair / replace

    ​Reviewed annually and prioritized city-wide according to severity of damage including fading and loss of reflectivity. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Speed watch program

    ​Residents work with Calgary Police to monitor vehicle speed and encourage good driving by using radar or laser. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Safety education signs

    ​Community group request signs from The City to encourage safe driving behaviours. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Pre-cast curbs

    ​Concrete ovals are physical barriers installed by The City which narrows the space vehicles have at intersections. It reduces the crossing distance for pedestrians and creates temporary streetscaping space. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Traffic sign options

    ​Traffic sign options may be installed where appropriate. Options include larger sizes, speed limit, crosswalk ahead, and other signs that educate and encourage safe driving. The City approves and installs. Ongoing community cost? No

  • Parks and pathway lighting

    ​Calgary Parks recognizes the inherent beauty that dark spaces provide, and is piloting a "minimal lighting" plan. In the event residents feel their park has exceptional circumstances, Calgary Parks staff will complete an evaluation with them. They evaluate safety, use of park, commuter traffic and community support.The City is responsible for planning, design, construction, maintenance and programming for Calgary's multi-use pathway system. The pathways and bikeways map is now available in three formats (mobile app, online, paper).
