If you are a newcomer to Calgary – a researcher, student, business person or maybe just a resident Calgarian interested in comparing their neighbourhood with others in the city – these Community Profiles are a good place to begin.
Compiled by the City's Community and Neighbourhood Services, Social Policy & Planning (SPP) division, demographic profiles for each community are updated to reflect the most recent statistics from both the federal and civic censuses. The following information is included:
population mobility age income |
employment family composition social isolation
|
education cultural diversity housing
|
The Community Profiles contain data from Statistics Canada's 2006 Census, and from The City of Calgary's 2009 Civic Census (the most recent federal census was conducted in 2006 and will be conducted again in 2011). As well, similar profiles were created for each of the Wards in Calgary.
Some newer communities may have very incomplete or missing profiles because there were very few people living in these neighbourhoods at the time of the census (2006).
In addition, each Community Profile contains a map showing the neighbourhood location and links to amenities such as:
Please note that these profiles reflect the Ward boundaries that came into effect October 18, 2010.
