UNICEF Trick or Treat Program

The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) is proud of its long-term partnership with UNICEF Alberta in supporting the needs of children around the world.

Since 1964, CFD volunteers have collected and counted coins collected on Halloween night on behalf of the UNICEF Trick or Treat Program.

Volunteers include off-duty firefighters, the Fire Department Pensioners Society, Royal Bank employees and UNICEF volunteers. Over the past several years, this campaign has consistently helped raise approximately $3 million every year.

UNICEF Partners for Safety Program

UNICEF Alberta's Partners for Safety Program addresses Halloween safety concerns and provides safety information for parents and children.

In support of this initiative, the CFD has teamed up with the Calgary Police Service, Calgary Emergency Medical Services, Calgary Animal & Bylaw Services, Calgary Transit, Shaw Cable and Calgary's Child magazine to provide an extra measure of safety for all of the "trick or treaters" on Halloween night.

The Partners for Safety will have close to 800 vehicles out patrolling Calgary communities to assist UNICEF's youngest ambassadors and ensure their safety.
