Emergency service partnerships are an important aspect of water rescue. The Aquatics Rescue Team works with The Alberta Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society and flies an average of three rescue missions per year within a 160-kilometre radius on the STARS air ambulance.
The Aquatics Rescue Team will respond to drownings at City pools when required to assist in rescue and body recovery. Members swim regularly in local indoor and outdoor pools. They maintain positive working relationships with City lifeguards and have forged strong partnerships with lifeguards at Mount Royal University.
The Calgary Fire Department is a member of the Water Safety Partners, a task force whose goal is to reduce the number of drowning and water-related emergencies in Calgary. Members of the Water Partners include The Canadian Red Cross, the National Lifesaving Society, the Glenmore Boat Patrol, Alberta Environment, as well as many others.
