When a fire inspection is required
Calgary Fire Department Fire Inspectors will attend your business to approve it for a business or provincial licence, conditions of use, and occupancy levels. Fire Inspectors will also visit to ensure ongoing compliance with the Alberta Fire Code.
Before calling:
- Obtain a use certificate from the City of Calgary Licence Division.
- Obtain a development permit (if required).
- Have all construction completed and premises ready to open for business.
- Have all appropriate permits on site.
To arrange for a fire and life safety inspection, contact the Fire Prevention Bureau through 3-1-1 or 403-268-2489 if calling from outside Calgary. Please allow one week's notice (Monday-Friday) for the inspection.
