Where can I get my cholesterol checked?
Free cholesterol screenings (checks) are provided at the following fire stations daily between the hours of 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. (seven days-a-week) ,No appointment is necessary, simply drop in to one of the fire stations below when you have 20 minutes.
What happens when I get my cholesterol checked?
Getting your cholesterol checked is a simple process. On average, a visit with our trained firefighters will take about 20 minutes. You will be asked to fill out a brief assessment form.
- You will be asked to fill out a brief assessment form for our records. Your name, address and phone number will be kept strictly confidential, however, you may be contacted by the Fire Department in the future to determine if the program has been beneficial to you.
- Next, all that is required for a cholesterol screening is a small finger poke to obtain a few drops of blood.
- The blood is then inserted into a cholesterol analyzing machine. Seven minutes later, you will receive your results.
- Based on your results, the firefighter will make a recommendation for your cardiovascular health and give you a free wallet-sized card for your reference.
