All outdoor skating rinks are closed for the season.
Enjoy the fresh air this winter by lacing up your skates and enjoying one of the many outdoor skating rinks in Calgary. Outdoor rinks are maintained by The City, volunteers or community associations.
Remember to only skate on ice surfaces that have been made for recreational use. Community stormwater ponds are not safe to skate on. Get familiar with ice safety.
Outdoor skating rinks in Calgary are weather dependent and are typically open mid to late December through February, except for Olympic Plaza which is a refrigerated ice surface and is generally open from mid-November to mid-March.
City-maintained outdoor rinks are free to use and are flooded as needed during low usage hours. Please stay off the ice while it is being cleaned or cleared of snow. Hockey sticks are not permitted and helmets are strongly recommended. Skate rentals are not currently available at the outdoor skating rinks.

The end of the skating season is coming to a close with the arrival of warmer temperatures. For your safety, please respect closure signs and stay off the ice, particularly in the Bowness Lagoon where the water runs deep.
There are over 34 outdoor rinks throughout Calgary that are maintained on a volunteer basis through the Adopt-a-Rink program. Visit Adopt a Rink for more information and rink locations.
Outdoor community skating rinks
There are numerous outdoor skating rinks that are in the communities and maintained by community volunteers. Visit the community website directly to see if they have an outdoor skating rink.
