Pathway maintenance and management

Eau Claire pathway

Calgary's pedestrian and bike paths are for everyone to enjoy!

Managing Calgary's pathways

The City is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance and programming of Calgary's growing pedestrian and bike path system. We currently maintain approximately 700 kilometres of pathways throughout the City. Calgary has the largest urban bike path system in North America and our pathways are one of the most popular services provided by the City. View the Pathwatch Survey results.

Using our pathways?

Before you set out, make sure to keep up to date on current bike path closures in and around the city. Is it snowing? We also clear snow from a number of Calgary bike paths to make it easier for you to use our pathways, so be sure to check out the latest information on snow clearing on Calgary's bike paths.

To report any pathway problems, hazards, or incidents please call 3-1-1 or 403-268-CITY (2489) if calling from outside Calgary.

Get involved in managing our pathways

The Calgary Pathways & Bikeways Advisory Council (CPAC) is a citizens' advisory group that provides a liaison between pathway and bikeway users and the administration of The City. Members of the advisory council provide advice and input on the planning, development, maintenance and management process of Calgary's pathways and on-street bikeways.

CPAC represents a diverse group of pathway and bikeway users. Members commit to a two-year term with possible renewal and are expected to volunteer approximately six hours per month of their time.
