Our birdwatching courses are designed to improve your skills whether you are a beginner or advanced birder. Get expert information on bird species, viewing equipment and identification techniques, and put your learning into practice as we go in search of Calgary’s winged wonders.

Birds of the Wetland (12 years+)

Join our expert birder on a tour of Ralph Klein Park, home to over 100 species of migratory birds. Spot cliff swallows, lesser yellowlegs, grebes, herons and more while learning about the many birds found in Canada’s largest man-made wetland. The majority of this course takes place outdoors, so please dress for the weather.

Summer Birds (12 years+)

Carburn Park is bustling with bird activity during the summer season. Join our expert birder for a guided tour of this natural area in search of migratory and resident birds. Find out where the best viewing locations are, how to identify particular species and what tips and tricks to use to get the most out of your birdwatching experience. This course takes place outdoors, so please dress for the weather.

Learn to Birdwatch (12 years+)

Do you love birds? Are you interested in learning about their unique songs, shapes and colours? Would you like to know more about local bird species? If so, this beginner birdwatching course is for you! Our expert birder will introduce you to the basics of birding, including equipment use, identification tools and viewing techniques. This course combines class and field time, so please dress for the weather.
