Ralph Klein Park is Calgary's newest park and offers many public events and school based learning that highlight this unique space and its facility. Ralph Klein Park also offers wild adventures for birthday parties and special groups.

Drop-in programs

What Bird is That?

Learn cool bird ID skills, use binoculars and scopes to spot amazing birds and impress your friends and stump your parents with your new found skills.

Dates: Tuesdays, July 2 to August 27
Time: 1 - 3 p.m.
Cost: $5, drop-in

Geocaching

Explore our sites through an innovative electronic scavenger hunt. Participants will receive instruction and training on using GPS units, learn tricks and hints for finding and creating geocaches, then discover their own series of geocaching challenges.

Dates: Wednesdays, July 3 to August 28
Time: 1 - 3 p.m.
Cost: $5, drop-in

The Art of Nature

Connect with nature through your creative side in this two hour exploration of your beautiful natural surroundings. Various media of art explored throughout.

Dates: Thursdays, July 4 to August 29

Wetland Bug Safari

Safari in the city! Discover ferocious floaters, amazing acrobats and tiny transformers in our wetland. Guided by a Parks’ educator, participants will capture fascinating insects and invertebrates and learn how these tiny creatures survive and thrive in the storm-water pond. All equipment and bug guides are provided.

Dates: Mondays, July 8 to August 26 (no course Aug. 5)
Time: 1 - 3 p.m.
Cost: $5, drop-in

Nature programs

The aim of Ralph Klein Park programming is to draw attention to human interactions with the watershed. Parks offers numerous gardening programsbirding programs, family nature programs, and day camps, many of which are held at Ralph Klein Park.   

School based learning

The City of Calgary Parks believes environmental education is a lifelong learning process and offers school programs that promote awareness and encourage students to develop an appreciation of the natural world. See Nature Explorations for a complete list of school programs Parks has to offer.
