About Wagonstage
The Wagonstage Children's Theatre partnership with the City of Calgary and the University of Calgary's Drama Department began in 1971 and has continued every summer since.
Wagonstage plays are written and directed by theatre professionals, designed and acted by graduate and undergraduate Drama students, with production and touring support from the Department of Drama and the City of Calgary Recreation.
Wagonstage has always been committed to new work produced by local artists. Approximately half of the plays produced for Wagonstage have been commissioned from Calgary playwrights. The other half have been collective creations imagined into existence through the collaborative energies of the director and cast.
