Playfield Booking Information

  • Rectangular field Minimum Booking time: 1 hour.
    • Monday - Friday: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
    • Saturday - Sunday: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

  • Diamond minimum booking time: 3 hours starting at:
    • Monday - Friday: 6 p.m.
    • Saturday - Sunday: 9 a.m., 3 p.m. or 6 p.m.
    • Diamond and cricket pitches must be booked weekdays from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

  • Applications submitted before 8:30 a.m. on Public Day will be moved to the bottom of the list at 9 a.m., and processed after applications submitted between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Playfield Special Event Application Policies

  • For tournaments, day camps, or weekday bookings before 6 pm complete the online playfield tournament application form.
  • All applicants who submit a playfield tournament application or Day Camp requests will be contacted for payment of a $26.25 non-refundable administration fee. Your application will be sent to the appropriate Parks area office for review when this fee is paid.
  • Tournament/day camp applications must be received a minimum of 4 weeks prior to your planned event to allow for processing and approval.
  • *Special Events (non-sporting events): Any event that is not a regular sporting event and is not serving alcohol (such as community days, carnivals) must refer to booking a park, pathway or greenspace.
  • A non-refundable initial payment of 25% of the total rental cost is due 7 days after approval of your event. This initial payment is non-refundable. The remaining balance is due 1 month prior to the first booking date on the permit. The application will be reviewed by Parks, which will provide specific permissions for use of BBQ's, tents, extra maintenance provided by the city, etc. This process can take up to four weeks.
  • Port-o-potty rentals are highly recommended.

  • If any of the following four components apply to your event, it is considered a festival event and you must contact Event Services. Visit planning a festival for more information.
    • Fireworks, open flame or other pyrotechnics
    • Tents, stages and/or other structures exceed a combined 600 square feet
    • Alcohol sales or service
    • Use of roadways

Playfield Renewal Rights

  • To qualify for playfield renewal rights, you must have a booking of: a minimum of 5 dates at one playfield for the same time period, on the same day of the week, for consecutive weeks. (Example: minimum of 5 bookings at one playfield, Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for 5 consecutive weeks).
  • Renewal bookings are based on your organization’s previous booking of an individual playfield on a session-to-session basis (example: Fall renews to Fall, Winter renews to Winter).
  • If you delete dates from your renewal permit resulting in less than 5 bookings, or resulting in your bookings becoming non-consecutive each week, you may lose your renewal rights.
  • It takes 2 years to establish a renewal and 2 years to lose a renewal. This allows established renewal groups some flexibility for unforeseen circumstances. If a group falls below the 5 dates booking minimum for 2 years in a row, the renewal is lost.
  • Established renewals are groups who have booked a minimum of 2 years in a row. If your booking is considered a renewal, you will automatically receive a renewal permit the following session. You will not have to apply for the space, and you will be given the option to cancel the renewal permit without charge.
  • New renewals are groups that have qualified for renewal status for the first time. These groups are offered a renewal if there are no operational or historical booking conflicts.
  • Special events, tournaments and track meets do not qualify for automatic renewals.
  • Tournaments do not qualify for automatic renewals.

Playfield Payment Policies

  • Payment for 5 or less dates booked is due immediately.
  • For Payment of more than 5 dates our Customer Service Centre will contact you once your application has been processed to confirm your booking and request payment.
  • Playfields are subject to a minimum $10.00 + GST fee for one time bookings or if the total cost of the permits is less than $10.00

  • Your permit is your official invoice.

Playfield Cancellation Policies

  • Please review our standard cancellation & amendment policies that apply to all bookings.
  • You can cancel or change your booking using the amendment app or by contacting Facility Bookings.
  • Additional Cancellation & Amendment Notes:
  • Cancellations or amendments must be received by the Facility Booking office a minimum of 7 business days in advance of the rental date.
  • E-class playfields are non refundable after April 15th of the current year.
  • Payment of the tournament or day camp administration fee and 25% deposit are non-refundable.
  • Inclement weather refunds
  • No refunds are given for inclement weather/rainouts (*exception – tournaments).
  • Rain out or inclement weather refunds for tournaments will be processed when the renter contacts Facility Bookings at 403-268-3800 (option 2) no later than the next business day after your event.
  • Refunds for tournament rain outs will be less the 25% deposit and tournament or day camp administration fee.
  • Regular bookings (Pick Up's) and renewal bookings do not qualify for inclement weather or rain out refunds.
