2018 Glenmore Reservoir recreational changes

Improvements to the Glenmore Dam require Glenmore Reservoir to be maintained at lower than normal water levels. This will impact the 2018 boating and program services, but will not have an impact on Calgary’s drinking water supply. In order to maintain a safe environment this season, the following conditions of use will apply to the Glenmore Reservoir in 2018:

South Glenmore

  • South Glenmore Boat Launch will be closed to all boats.
  • South Glenmore paved boat stalls (200 - 277 and 300 - 340) can be rented for the 2018 season free of charge for existing customers, though boats cannot be launched from this site.
  • All sailboat storage stalls at the South Glenmore Boat Launch will keep their renewal rights for the 2019 season.
  • Canoe and kayak storage stalls (1 - 84) will be moved to the Heritage Park boat launch site.

Heritage park

  • Heritage Park Boat Launch will be open for the 2018 season to all canoes, kayaks and hand launched craft. No trailer-launched boats can be launched from this site in the 2018 season.
  • Heritage Park paved boat stalls (stalls 402-515) and gravel boat stalls (Stalls 600-699) can be rented for the 2018 season free of charge for existing customers, though boats requiring trailers will not be permitted on the Glenmore Reservoir this season.
  • All sailboat storage stalls at the Heritage Park Dock, Heritage Gravel lot, and South Glenmore Dock will keep their renewal rights for the 2019 season.
  • The Captain’s Cruise steam boat (Moyie) will not run at Heritage Park in 2018.

Calgary Canoe and Rowing Club

The Calgary Canoe and Rowing Club Dock is open for all hand-launched boats. No trailer-launched boats are permitted at this site.

Alternate boat launch

An alternate boat launch will be available to service programming and classes only. See class information for details.

Want to book a canoe or kayak rack?

Canoe and kayak rack rentals are available at the Glenmore Reservoir from May 1 until October 31. The rack rental rate for 2018 is $104.88 (including GST).

Canoe and kayak rack rentals require the purchase of a boat stall permit for the season. Permit stickers must be visibly displayed on bow of boat. Stickers will be mailed to customers once payment is received.

To book a rack, contact facility bookings. Full payment is due at time of booking.

Boat stall rentals

New customers are unable to book boat stalls. Renewal of boat stall rentals for the 2018 season are free for existing customers, and renewal rights will carry forward to the 2019 season.

If you have any questions or need more information, please contact facility bookings.

Note: As a result of the construction, boats, canoes and kayak rentals are unavailable, and no sailing is permitted for the 2018 season at Glenmore Reservoir.
