About CEMA Get Prepared
The Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is the City’s command centre in any large-scale emergency. The EOC is a facility vital in protecting families, businesses, and communities in Calgary.
The EOC houses approximately 25 staff daily and can operate as a self-contained facility for the critical first 72 hours of an emergency. It has a Geographic Information System that involves the relay of maps with embedded information, as well as live feeds from City traffic and police helicopter cameras.
The Chief of CEMA opens the EOC in a disaster or major emergency. Key personnel from City business units and external agencies like ENMAX, ATCO, and Alberta Health Services assemble in the EOC and support front-line response personnel and business continuity by maintaining City services.
