Making Calgary a great place to live, work and play

Investing in communities is an integral part of what makes a great city. Things like libraries, recreation centres, swimming pools, arenas, athletic fields, parks, playgrounds and emergency services all contribute to safe, sustainable and vibrant neighbourhoods for all Calgarians.

Recognizing the need to invest in communities, Council seized the opportunity to create a community investment fund following the Province’s decision in 2011 to ease the provincial property tax – resulting in a projected cash flow of approximately $42 million annually. Projects that will be allocated monies from the fund have been identified and approved through a rigorous selection process that is updated annually.

The community investment fund gives back to Calgarians through their communities. It includes projects from every quadrant of the city as well as important partnerships with community associations and social recreation organizations and Civic Partners – all of whom work collaboratively together to make Calgary a great place to live, work and play.
