Calgary.ca has changed. Gone is complicated navigational structure - our site now works just like Google, meaning it's easier than ever to find the information you need.
Why did we change calgary.ca?
Simply put, we changed because of you. Once we discovered that the majority of users on the old calgary.ca were searching for City information on Google rather than clicking through our complicated navigational structure, we realized something had to change.
That's why we decided on a search-based site that would help citizens find the information they needed more quickly and efficiently. And since search is the most key aspect of our site, we're using Google to power our search engine.
We've done our research. A concept check-in with citizens found that the switch to a search-based website was a welcome and refreshing change. Further usability testing also discovered that once people adjusted to the search concept on the new site, they enjoyed it and were comfortable using it.
