Land Use Bylaw Projects

The Land Use Bylaw Sustainment Team is responsible for maintaining and interpreting the Land Use Bylaw. Provided here is information about some of the more substantive projects that the team is working on. The information provided here includes a description of the project, as well as the dates of public engagement sessions, Calgary Planning Commission meetings and City Council Public Hearings. CURRENT PROJECTS

Industrial Transition Project

As a part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the accuracy of this transition, the City is offering industrial land owners the opportunity to express any concerns they may have within the transition of their land from Land Use Bylaw 2P80 to 1P2007. Click for more info

Signs Review

The City of Calgary is currently working on reviewing the regulations of all types of signs covered under Land Use Bylaw 1P2007. Click for more info

Loading Stalls

The City of Calgary has many existing commercial and industrial developments located on small parcels, where the availability of land to accommodate parking and loading stalls is limited.   Click for more info

Flood Risk Map Changes

Flood Risk mapping is currently being completed for Nose Creek and West Nose Creek.  Click for more info 

 
Wind Energy

The goal of this project is to accommodate wind turbines of various scales – from small scale machines, which may be mounted on a building or structure, to larger freestanding wind turbines in appropriate locations.   Click for more info 

PAST PROJECTS

Places of Worship

Place of Worship – Large is currently defined as being a place where people assemble for religious or spiritual purposes and where the largest assembly area of the use is 500 square metres or greater.  Click for more info


Housekeeping Amendments

This project includes a number of minor amendments to the Land Use Bylaw, in order to improve clarity, improve consistency, and to correct errors. Click for more info
