The City is working closely with landowners and the public to create an amendment to the
West Macleod Area Structure Plan (ASP). An ASP is a long-range plan that guides development in a specific area. The Plan Area includes approximately 151 acres (61 hectares) of undeveloped land in south east Calgary, west of Macleod Trail. This ASP amendment is part of the developer-funded model, intended to shorten the amount of time it takes to prepare the plan to approximately one year.

On October 4, 2016, Council passed a Notice of Motion directing Administration to enter into an agreement with the landowner, Highfield Investment Group Inc, to fund the cost of amending the West Macleod ASP and to review concurrently an application for Outline Plan and Land Use Amendment.
