2014 Lion Award submissions are now closed
Thank you to all who submitted an application for the Lion Awards. Submissions are currently being reviewed by a jury made up of distinguished members of the community. The winning entries will be announced at the Lion Awards gala ceremony.
The Lion Awards Gala Ceremony
This year, Calgary Heritage Authority Lion Awards gala ceremony is the evening of July 31, 2014, and will be held at the historic Theatre Junction Grand (608 1st St. S.W.) at 7 p.m.
This free event is open to the public and will feature a keynote address by Hal Kalman, CM, heritage planner, architectural historian, author, and teacher from Vancouver, BC.

About the Lion Awards
Heritage in Calgary is represented from the downtown core to surrounding communities. Maintaining a link to our past, and understanding those links, ensures we have complete communities in the future.
The biennial Calgary Heritage Authority Lion Awards recognize individuals and organizations who have undertaken initiatives, of any scale, in support of heritage conservation in Calgary.
The Lion Awards are presented in the following categories:
- Resource Conservation (including a new Flood Recovery Award for 2014)
- New Building Design
- Community Vitalization
- Advocacy and Awareness
- Heritage Trades people and Crafts people
