Mobility projects

Building infrastructure for the future

To meet Calgary’s current and future transportation needs, a number of infrastructure projects are currently underway. Each project is aligned with the department goal to provide strategic improvements to transportation infrastructure, connect communities and citizens, and improve individual mobility by:

  • Providing enhancements to the transit network
  • Promoting all modes of travel and increasing mobility choices
  • Improving the efficient movement of people, goods and services

Southeast Transitway (SETWAY)
An exclusive roadway for public transit use, the Southeast Transitway improves the travel time, reliability and convenience of transit service for residents in southeast Calgary.


Bowfort Road and Highway 1 interchange
In order to accommodate future growth and enhance mobility, The City plans to construct an interchange at Trans-Canada Highway and Bowfort Road.

17 Ave SE Redevelopment
The 17 Avenue SE Transportation Planning Study establishes the long term plan for mobility along the corridor and provides strategies for improved pedestrian and cyclist connectivity.
