Street Sweeping (April 3 – June 1)

  • Street cleaning on remaining major routes and residential streets.
  • Crews sweep routes seven days a week
  • Watch for signs in your community indicating when your street is scheduled for clean-up.
  • Parking bans in place. Remove vehicles and bins from the road on the posted dates and times.

How you can help

The City sweeps almost 15,000 lane kilometres of paved roads, and getting the work done is a collaborative effort. We would like to thank Calgarians for their help in moving their cars from the street and their blue, black and green carts on to the curb when sweeping is scheduled.

Community Parking Bans

Parking Ban signsA parking ban is in effect when Street Cleaning Community Signs with “No Parking” decals are placed around a community during Spring Clean-up. Any vehicle that has not been removed from the street in the area is subject to ticketing.

Vehicles are subject to be ticketed and towed if the small 3-feet high "No Parking" signs are placed along the road. They will be placed at least 12 hours prior to street sweeping. If vehicles are towed:

  • The City of Calgary pays for towing if the vehicle can be taken to a nearby space.
  • The vehicle owner pays the ticket, tow, and impound fee, if taken to a lot.

Street cleaning community road signs

Watch for these Street Cleaning program signs which are placed at entrances to community street sweeping routes. When the street cleaning signs are up and vehicles are still on the road, crews will sweep around vehicles.

No Parking: Ticketing enforcement, please move your vehicle when street sweeping signs are in your neighbourhood.

Spring Clean-up is an annual street sweeping program that removes sanding materials and debris that has accumulated on roads and along major sidewalks and boulevards during the winter months. See the Spring Clean-up FAQ for further details.
