36 Street N.E. pavement rehabilitation

Calgary Traffic Report 2016 Paving Projects

As part of The City of Calgary’s Pavement Rehabilitation Program, 36 Street N.E. between Memorial Drive and 16 Avenue N.E. is scheduled for rehabilitation during the 2016 construction season. The City of Calgary Roads group and its contracted partners will be working in conjunction with Calgary Transit to ensure minimal interruptions during construction.

Please note, 36 Street between 80 Avenue and Airport Trail N.E. is also undergoing a separate widening project.

The City of Calgary would like to thank residents, businesses and commuters for their patience and understanding during the road construction process. Please observe all posted signs and speed limits to ensure the safety of commuters and construction crews.

Project Scope

  • Localized concrete sidewalk or curb and gutter repairs.
  • Localized base repairs will also occur between Memorial Drive and 16 Avenue to improve the structure of pavement.
  • Concrete repairs of bus zones at identified stops.
  • Milling of the existing asphalt surface on the entire segment.
  • Overlay with two or more layers of asphalt to provide a structurally sound and smooth surface for the design life.

Timeline

Construction is slated to begin in early May 2016. During the initial phase of construction, concrete repairs will be performed along 36 Street. There will be temporary traffic impacts throughout the construction season.
