About Transportation Infrastructure

Who we are

Transportation Infrastructure (TI) was created in 2005 to oversee the design and construction of transportation projects in Calgary. Simply put, almost every new or major transportation development in Calgary is managed and constructed by the Transportation Infrastructure office.

As part of the group behind bringing Calgary's ever-expanding transportation system to life, we aim to be a leader in providing efficient project management that is safe, sustainable and responsive. In addition to design and construction, TI is continually involved in public engagement and communication with citizens to ensure Calgarians are kept informed of projects that may impact their lives.

What we do

Some of our key construction projects include the following:

Since 2007, TI has completed:

  • 125 km of roadways (Approximately the distance between Calgary and Banff)
  • 14 km of LRT track (It would take approximately 2.5 hours to walk this distance)
  • 7 new CTrain stations
  • 7 pedestrian bridges
  • 5 interchanges
  • 4 road or river crossings

How we fit into the overall picture of Transportation in Calgary

For most transportation projects in Calgary the process goes as follows: Transportation Planning plans it, Transportation Infrastructure designs and builds it, and Roads or Calgary Transit takes it over for operation, maintenance and upgrades.

Please note: The West LRT office operates as an independent group within Transportation Infrastructure.
