Since spring 2015, we’ve been talking with people who live, work and travel in the area about paving the way for a better 17 Avenue S. You may not have been part of the conversation since the beginning, but feel free to familiarize yourself with how the project has evolved over the past few years.

Public information session: April 5 – 8, 2017 @ ATB Financial Entrepreneurial Centre

The City hosted a multi-day public information session that confirmed the construction schedule for 2017, and introduced a possible three-year (2017, 2018, 2019) and four-year (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020) construction schedule, plus general project information.

Business representative workshops: February and March 2017

The City worked with a group of representatives from businesses on 17 Avenue S. to discuss an appropriate construction schedule that would better balance the needs of businesses and construction.

Public information session: Nov. 28 – Dec. 2, 2016, @ ATB Financial Entrepreneurial Centre

The City hosted a multi-day public information session that showed the remaining shallow utility schedule up to 8 Street S.W. for 2017 and a two-year construction schedule for the deep utility, road and sidewalk work.

Public information session: March 16 – 20, 2016, at ATB Financial Entrepreneurial Centre; March 17 at St. Mary’s Church Hall

The City hosted a multi-day and evening information session that provided an update on the project, including design and schedule. It also introduced the 17 Avenue S. shallow utility schedule for 2016, between Macleod Trail and 4 Street S.W.

The City hosted a multi-day and evening open house that displayed information on the future design of 17 Avenue S. and considerations for construction staging and traffic management.

We set up an office at the 17 Avenue S.W. Business Improvement Area office, to introduce the project to the businesses on 17 Avenue S., as well as the neighbouring communities. We displayed an unmarked Google aerial map to show people the general area of construction and the following display information:
