WCC Call for proposals

The 7th Annual Winter Cycling Congress is coming to Calgary February 6-8, 2019. We invite all interested participants to submit a proposal to help us create an exciting conference program.

 
 
 

This year we want to explore how winter cycling contributes to building an accessible, equitable and resilient city. Northern cities have a lot to learn from one another and we look forward to sharing best practices and learnings (success and failures) on how to support winter policies for transportation, recreation and overall citizen wellbeing.

Have an interesting perspective you want to share about Calgary or the Bow Valley area? Maybe you want to take conference delegates on a tour of your favourite coffee shops or public art pieces or highlight an initiative that makes cycling in the Calgary region unique?

Format:

Breakout session presentation

Breakout sessions will feature four to five presentations (10 to 15 minutes each) covering a range of topics under a common theme.

Breakout session presentation (Academic)

Breakout sessions will feature four to five presentations (10 to 15 minutes each) covering a range of topics under a common theme. This year we inviting academic researchers to share original research that relates to conference themes. Academic breakout sessions will be presented alongside practitioner breakout sessions.

Workshop or Panel Discussion

A 75 minute deeper dive into a topic or theme. These sessions can be presented/ facilitated by one or more people and should include an interactive component for the audience.

Mobile Tour

1.5 to 2 hour cycling (or walking) in Calgary, may involve taking transit to reach a tour destination.

Pecha Kucha

20 slides, 20 seconds per slide. We'd like to host a special afternoon/evening session that brings together our local community with out of town delegates to share cycling education, encouragement and advocacy initiatives.

Proposals for conference topics can be submitted at https://www.judgify.me/wcc2019.


Important information:

  • The submission deadline is on November 16, 2018 at 11:59 P.M (Mountain Standard Time).
  • All submissions will be reviewed by a panel
  • All applicants will be notified by email of the outcome of their proposal by December 7, 2018.
  • Accepted abstracts will need to confirm conference registration by January 11, 2019.
