Did you know that carpooling one day a week could save you up to 20 per cent on fuel and parking costs? Carpooling can be a convenient alternative to driving alone especially when other travel options like walking, cycling and transit are limited.

Carpooling is:

  • Easy and convenient and secure - just register on and find your match.
  • Affordable - carpooling makes cents. It reduces maintenance, fuel and parking costs.
  • Enjoyable - someone can keep you company for the drive.
  • Flexible - carpool once a week or every day. It’s up to you.

Carpool opportunities beyond the classroom or office

Carpooling isn’t just for those travelling to and from work or school. Other opportunities include:

  • Attending a sports game or concert
  • Taking your kids to a team practice after school
  • Going for a night out with friends? Consider sharing your ride the next time you head out.

Carpool parking is also available to the general public in a parking lot located on West Valley Road S.W. near Stoney Trail and 16 Avenue N.W. The lot is not monitored so make sure you do not leave valuables in your vehicle when using the facility. The lot is provided in partnership by Alberta Infrastructure and The City of Calgary. Some employers and downtown office buildings also provide designated carpool parking. Ask your employer or building management if carpool parking is available.
