Getting around Calgary: programs and partnerships
The City of Calgary recognizes that encouraging Calgarians to get around Calgary by offering multiple modes of travel like walking, cycling, transit and carpooling will help shift travel behaviour from driving alone to more sustainable modes of travel. This behavioural shift will help reduce congestion on the roadways, reduce the environmental footprint of the everyday commute while often improving health and satisfaction though work life balance. But, we also recognize that Calgarians shouldn’t have to go it alone.
This is why we support programs and initiatives like Commuter Challenge that encourage Calgarians to participate in a week-long commuter competition and we’ve held travel options fairs to raise awareness and provide more information about more sustainable modes of transportation.
We also offer employers, building owners and office managers a business program that helps assess and develop a trip reduction program for employees and building tenants.
