The overall Regional Transportation Model includes a representation of both personal travel and commercial vehicle travel.
The personal travel model estimates the future travel demand and choices of City and Region residents. An enhanced four-step trip-based model is used for this purpose and estimates trip generation, trip distribution, time-of-day choice, mode choice and route choice for a typical weekday.
The commercial vehicle model is a tour-based model which estimates the movement of light, medium and heavy vehicles used for commercial purposes.
