Carpool Week

Join Calgary commuters in celebrating Carpool Week every year in October. The City of Calgary is encouraging commuters to consider carpooling rather than driving alone. Talk to your neighbors and co-workers or experience the carpool-matching service available at carpool.ca. The service is free, easy to use, and secure. A GREAT WAY TO TRAVEL AND SAVE!

Carpool.ca launched a new website in 2010 featuring:

  • Matching for multiple trips for work and special events
  • Carpool matches along travel routes
  • Trip Tracker that measures greenhouse gas savings
  • Carpooling tips

Carpooling makes good sense:

  • An easy way to save costs on fuel (especially with the rising cost of fuel), parking and vehicle maintenance
  • Reduce stress
  • Fewer cars
  • Less congestions

Carpooling just one day a week can reduce commuting costs by 10%. When you get tired of shovelling snow this winter, imagine taking a warm vacation with the money you saved carpooling.

During the 2010 Carpool Week, registered commuters were eligible to win great prizes, including an iPad, iPod Touch, Kindle Reader, GPS system and three $100 fuel cards and save commuting costs by registering on carpool.ca.

Carpooling Week is sponsored by The City of Calgary, the Alberta Motor Association, the Calgary Parking Authority and Nexen Inc.

Typically, TDM programs focus in influencing travel choices to increase the number of persons in a vehicle by altering commuters choice of travel times and modes, so travel is less congested, particularly within the peak periods.
